Forecast the health and future of democracy!

Overview
RANGE forecasts the outcome of key factors that will influence the transatlantic relationship and beyond. This spring, we’re hosting an intercollegiate forecasting tournament focused on the most pressing geopolitical issues in the Indo-Pacific region.
The tournament is scheduled to run from January 26 - March 27, 2026.
How It Will Work
You will automatically be placed on a team with other students from your university. You can invite friends to join your team by having them sign up as a forecaster on RANGE using their university email address by January 25. We will add them to your team on our end.
Once the tournament starts, tournament questions will be tagged as #CollegeTournament2026. Visit this link for more info on how to get started and how to view team rankings.
There will be a total of 8 questions released throughout the tournament. We will let teams know throughout the tournament which questions are going live as part of the tournament.
Scoring will be completed through RANGE and use our relative brier scoring system.
The team with the highest accuracy score will win the tournament.
Tournament participants must forecast at least 6 of 8 tournament questions and forecast at least twice per month to be eligible for a prize.
The top three individual forecasters that meet the minimum criteria will win cash prizes, with the first-place finisher receiving $300, the second-place finisher receiving $200 and the third-place finisher receiving $100.
Any forecasters found to have used bot/automated accounts to participate in the tournament will be disqualified.
Tournament Rewards
Tournament participants are eligible to apply for a paid summer internship with the Bertelsmann Foundation in Washington, D.C. Please visit this link to learn more about the internship and how to apply.

More About RANGE
RANGE is short for Rethinking Assumptions in a New Geostrategic Environment. The forecasts, crowdsourced from a community of transatlantic experts, experienced policymakers, and the informed public, are being curated by RANGE as a new source of input for analysis, publications, and elevating the public discourse. RANGE is a key part of the Bertelsmann Foundation & Bertelsmann Stiftung’s work to bring accurate, credible and forward-looking insights to governments and the public on both sides of the Atlantic.
RANGE operates with a 3-step lifecycle:
We ask forecast questions that will help predict the outcome of pivotal trends central to transnational policy concerns.
You use your experience to make probabilistic forecasts (0-100%) and help produce the "consensus" crowd forecast.
Bertelsmann Foundation & Stiftung use interactive dashboards and reports generated from your forecasts to inform their analysis.
Note about tournaments: Participating in a team tournament is completely voluntary. If you choose to participate, you may need to identify yourself by sharing personal information off the platform, including your email address, with your teammates and/or the RANGE team. If you do not feel comfortable providing this information, you do not need to participate. RANGE reserves the right to modify any tournament guidelines and rules.
