Bertelsmann Foundation RANGE Forecasting Internship 2026
Dates: June - August 2026
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Applicants must have participated in the RANGE college forecasting tournament running from January 26 - March 27 to be eligible to apply.
- Background or interest in transatlantic relations and foreign policy.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities and Objectives
- Learn about the science behind crowdsourced forecasting and how to become a more accurate forecaster.
- Participate in forecasting question decomposition exercises and help formulate new questions for the RANGE platform.
- Research issues related to the six subject areas on RANGE: Democracy, Geopolitics, Technology, Trade and Economics, Astropolitics and Indo-Pacific policy.
- Write blog posts for the RANGE forecaster network analyzing forecasting data and question results.
- Assist with the planning of forecasting events and information sessions with universities, think tanks, European embassies in D.C., and civil society organizations in the U.S.
- Help grow and sustain the RANGE network of forecasters through online outreach and engagement.
- Participate in weekly Transatlantic Foresight team calls with our colleagues at the Bertelsmann Stiftung in Germany.
- Learn from Bertelsmann Foundation staff about transatlantic issues and creative ways of presenting research in written and audiovisual formats.
Benefits and Terms
The Bertelsmann Foundation will provide a stipend of $2,000 per month.
Please note that a successful applicant must:
- work 16 hours per week.
- be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- reside in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia for the duration of the internship.
- work in-person from the Bertelsmann Foundation office for the duration of the internship.
- be responsible for travel, accommodation, applicable taxes, and all other living expenses for the duration of the internship.
